Freight Handling Conveyors

Conveyors that handle all general freight come into this category.

When designing a freight handling system it is common to include many of the different styles of conveyors for use within the system, as no one particular style can suit all requirements of the particular design.

Complete systems may involve the removing (de-stuffing) of line haul vehicles or depalletising of large interstate semi-trailer vehicles into the freight system for further transport throughout the freight terminal to eventual scanning and sorting to final destination into smaller PUD (local pick up and delivery) vehicles for metropolitan and city delivery runs.

Depending on the nature of the freight companies business, the systems can vary from basic manual operations to semi or fully automated control and allow for speedy distribution of freight parcels, satchels and other containers.

A typical freight handling system might include the full range of powered roller and belt conveyors, curves, high speed merge lines, buffering and metering conveyors prior to bar code scanning, volumetric measuring and weighing and eventually onto many types of high speed sortation equipment to various delivery chutes and destinations.
